lyrics

Walking through the street with a fistful of keys
Everything recorded on CCTV
Said we'd be safe if we trust the police
Got a body full of scars that would disagree

Did we say it was OK? (No no no no)
That you take this space? (No no no no)
But you did it anyway (So so so so)

You had your chance, now we take it back (ha!)

Don't buy in to your original sin
Didn't eat no apple, didn't come from no rib
You're talking all the time and I'm getting pretty sick
Of these people I don't know trying to tell me how to live

Took my thoughts, took my words
Passed them off like they were yours
Got your boys to lie, you got some kinda nerve
It's about time that the truth be heard

Did I say it was OK? (No no no no)
To take the things I never gave? (No no no no)
But you did it anyway (So so so so)
You had your chance, gonna take it back (ha!)

To the boys on the street, to the popes and the priest
You had your chance, gonna take it back (ha!)

There's a thief in this house
There's a thief in this house, there's a thief in this house
There's a thief, there's a liar, there's a cheat in this house

We've tried your way, but we didn't have a say
Looking around at the mess that you made
It's about time that your debts were paid
So take a final bow and get off the stage

To the boys on the street, to the popes and the priest
You had your chance, gonna take it back (ha!)
Next time we meet, gonna bring receipts
You had your chance gonna take it back (ha!)
I did not consent to all the time that I spent
Feeling ugly in my skin, feeling guilty for your sins
I did not agree that you could take a piece of me
Not my body, not my time, now I’m taking back what’s mine

This is a war
We fight the same devil on both sides of the door

Does the hit hurt more when it’s the hand that once held you?
Does the fist feel worse when the fingers are familiar?

Who can we trust?
As our sanctuaries turn to dust?
Trust yourself: no one else will save us.
